Jasinski // Abstract composition

Stanislas Jasinksi was part of the Brussels avant-garde circle around the magazine 7 Arts. During the first half of the 1920s he remained in close contact with a.o. Pierre-Louis Flouquet, René Magritte, Victor Servranckx and Marcel Louis Baugniet.

This abstract composition with suprisingly bright pastel colours dates from 1923-1924, the years in which Jasinski lived in Paris and was in contact with modernist architects Le Corbusier and Mallet-Stevens.

The avant-garde losing its initial revolutionary spirit after 1925, Jasinski opted for a carreer as an architect. After internships with Victor Horta and Henry Van de Velde, he completed his first modernist masterpiece in 1930: the airport of Deurne (Antwerp).
