Joris Minne // Billiard
Billiard is a typical example of the artistic renewal of the graphic arts in Belgium brought about by the so-called ‘Five’ (Frans Masereel, Joris Minne, Henri Van Straten, Jozef Cantré and Jan Frans Cantré).
Minne translates the geometry that is key to the billiard game to his etching plate. Without spoiling the clarity of the figuration Minne synthesizes the atmosphere of the billiard room in a well-considered and elegant composition.
